The story only you can tell.

Education · PolyNation Workshops

PolyNation workshops help young and underrepresented filmmakers explore their own culture and identity, and turn it into cinema.

We don't hand you someone else's formula. We help you find the film that could only come from you.

Support the next generation of intercultural filmmakers—right from your space.

We believe the most powerful stories come from those brave enough to think different.

We equip, mentor, and support teens to help them tell powerful, identity‑rooted stories.

Where pollination meets many nations.

PolyNation is our belief that the most powerful films come from storytellers who know where they come from. The name joins pollination and many nations: ideas that grow by crossing between cultures. Every workshop is built to empower one thing, your exploration of your own identity, through an approach that is multicultural, international, and interdisciplinary.

Multicultural

Your background is your material. We start from who you are and the heritage only you carry.

International

The world's cinemas prove there are a thousand ways to tell a story, not one. We learn from all of them.

Interdisciplinary

Music, art, history, and film meet, so your story can take whatever shape it needs to take.

Bring PolyNation to your community.

Tell us about your school, library, council, or venue, and the young people you want to reach. We'll help you shape an edition that fits your goals and your budget.

PolyNation: Culture, Identity, and Cinema is a free film program a community can host over a season. Filmmaker-mentors lead workshops on how culture and identity shape cinema, local youth tour a working film studio, and it builds to a free public screening where selected local films are shown and discussed. The filmmakers behind them are paid stipends and supported toward festivals, every host venue joins TreasureMap, and everyone joins Open Hours, our community of 400+ filmmakers, so the program keeps giving long after the lights come up.

We built it in Cambridge with Cambridge Community Television and Emerson College. Now it’s a template any town, library, school, cultural council, or media center can bring home, in Massachusetts or anywhere. Every edition is shaped around the place it serves and assembled from modular pieces, so you can start with a single workshop or host a full local edition.

An edition can include workshops, a studio tour, a public screening, filmmaker stipends, festival support, and accessibility, mixed and matched to your budget.

OUR STORY

Ineffable Films is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young filmmakers from international lineages to tell the most human journey. Awakening in a world different from them, yet one they cannot abandon.

We explore narratives that expose and celebrate the cultures, ethnicities, and communities of worlds both real and imagined. We began in Boston, and now also operate in San Diego, and Los Angeles with aspirations to expand our reach and impact.
